REPORTS TO: Group Communications Manager

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Key stakeholders in CIG including; Leadership Team, Sales, Marketing, Product, Industry Relations
  • Responsibility and accountability for PR Agency performance
    Partners and Clients PR functions
  • Press- National, International and Regional including Trade and Vertical publications
  • Social Media

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

Develop an intimate understanding of the business and the products and services offered to our target markets and identify how PR can be used effectively to support both new to market activity and ongoing awareness. Cost effectively build awareness of the Group with particular focus on key vertical markets.

KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage the quality and content of all PR activity across the Group ensuring appropriate sign off
  • Editing and copywriting of releases, newsletters and other content
  • Develop research to support message
  • Manage all suppliers and ensure that value for money and effectiveness are optimised
  • Monitor coverage of CIG across all media and benchmark against key competitors
  • Manage and develop relationships with key media contacts
  • Provide leadership to marketing and business development colleagues on the optimal use of PR to support new business and retention objectives
  • Network effectively across CIG to ensure awareness on all key initiatives that could benefit from effective PR
  • Take an active role in the development of effective internal communications
  • Develop robust approach to any adverse publicity impacting the Group
  • Identify and develop spokespeople within the business that can proactively build CIG profile
  • Develop KPIs to demonstrate ROI from CIG investment in PR

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Awareness/Coverage/Equivalence (to paid for media)
  • In bound response to specific activity
  • Budgetary control
  • Building and maintaining trust measured by feedback (positive and negative)

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

SKILLS 

Essential:

  • Strong enthusiastic communicator
  • Good negotiation skills
  • PR experience in a B2B environment
  • Ability to manage upwards
  • Creative
  • On-line savvy
  • Discretion/trustworthy

Preferred:

  • PR experience in a B2C environment
  • Broad understanding/experience of marketing
  • Technical writing skills

KNOWLEDGE 

Essential:

  • Awareness of the Credit and Marketing Solutions markets
    PR through all channels in particular trade press and on-line

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of the Credit and Marketing Solutions markets
    Understanding of social media

ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 

Essential:

  • Degree educated
  • Excellent use of language: written and verbal

Preferred:

  • Relevant professional qualification /training
  • Foreign language might be useful

POTENTIAL CAREER PROGRESSION 

The option would exist to grow the breadth of the role as the group grows in the future or branch out into other areas of marketing management.
